# Why does the bot name differ from the app name?

Tell apart the Siit AI bot identity, the bot name and avatar set in Agent settings, from the Siit app name in Slack or Teams, and learn how to change each one

At Siit, we offer two levels of customization to make your internal support experience more intuitive and on-brand. However, they serve different purposes and apply in different contexts. Here’s a breakdown to help you understand and apply both correctly.

### Customizing the Siit AI Bot Identity (Slack – Pro Plan)

This customization changes **how the AI bot appears** when responding publicly to employee questions. It includes:

* **Bot name** displayed in responses
* **Bot avatar** (logo/icon) in Slack

🔧 How to update:

1. Go to your **Admin dashboard > Agent on the nav bar on the top**.
2. Click on **AI Assist**.
3. Upload your custom logo and define a name.
4. Preview the changes and click **Save**.

⚠️ Logo Requirements:

Image size must be between 512px by 512px and 2000px by 2000px

### Renaming the Siit App in Slack Sidebar (Slack only)

This customization updates the name **visible in the Slack sidebar**, so employees can easily find and interact with the Siit app.

🔧 How to update:

1. In Slack, go to **Administration > Manage Apps**.
2. Find the **Siit app**.
3. Scroll to the **Bot User** section.
4. Click “**Edit Bot Name**” and save.

#### Renaming the Siit App and changing its icon in Microsoft Teams (Teams only)

This customization updates the **name and icon** employees see for the Siit app in Microsoft Teams, so they find the service desk under the name and logo your IT team already uses.

🔧 How to update:

1. Sign in to the **Microsoft Teams admin center**.
2. Go to **Teams apps → Manage apps**.
3. Search for **Siit** and select it.
4. Click **Customize** (also available under **Actions → Customize**).
5. Enter the new **Short name** and upload your **Color icon** and **Outline icon**.
6. Click **Apply**.

⚠️ Limitations:

* **You can only change the name**, not the icon.
* This action must be done manually in Slack — Siit cannot do it automatically due to Slack restrictions.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.siit.io/guides/integrations/integrations-communication/app-name-vs-bot-name.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
